Three Things Every Businessman Must Have

Maybe you are curious what it takes to be a successful businessman. Truth is, the things that I had learned more from them by merely observing them is twice as much than what I learned from the entire time I sat on my business management class from college. Here are the three things I believe that every successful businessman should have regardless of the field or business industry you are in.

1. Consistent Energy. In anything, consistency is always the name of the game. In business, consistency of the energy is one deciding factor whether the business will prosper or not. What is very consistent with all the successful people is the fire, the drive, and the passion. They just don’t let the vibe die. I guess enthusiasm is the word.

If you are not as enthusiastic and excited as before, your clients/customers would actually feel it. Whether you believe it or not, everything is made up of energy. Even your place of business has a vibe itself. I can still remember when we were still new to this town, I would usually let my daughter decide on which restaurant we would eat. Most of the time, the restaurant she’d pick was the one that had the most relaxing energy among the rest. Businesses with the highest vibration of good energy are the most appealing to the customers, regardless of age.

I know it’s not easy to be enthusiastic everyday for not every day is sunshine. We have a food business and what I do is I act everyday as if it is our first day. To achieve the same level of enthusiasm as I had on day one, I pretend every day as if it is our grand opening. I treat regular customers as if it was the first time they had ever come to us. I made sure that we exceed their expectations every time.

However, whenever I don’t feel the same level of energy as I have regularly, I always choose not to intervene with the business. I even cancel meetings when I feel like I am overwhelmed by situation. I try to put myself together and when I feel good that’s the time I’ll go back in track. The reason is I want to be consistent with the good energy that the business has. I don’t want anyone in the business operation got affected by my energy. This is how careful I am when it comes to keeping up the enthusiasm and drive. In the end, it’s not the food, the product or the service that they will remember. The business’ trademark is your consistent energy.

2. Innovation. It’s a no brainer! We all know that everything is changing. And a good businessman is good at keeping up with the changes. They never stopped thinking of new things to reach out. New methods to attract more customers and keep the old ones. In this modern age of technology, everything becomes replaceable. However, if you have a very good innovation skills, there is no way you will be phased out. Moreover, you will always be on demand.

One good example is Facebook. It has evolved all through the years and yet, it has never stopped improving. From a simple posting of pictures and statuses, to video calling and now to even going on live. It has never stopped offering new things that are in demand and relevant these days.

3. Marketing Strategy. A good marketing strategy is not only about reaching out and being popular. Marketing strategy is actually a concise plan on how to achieve the maximum profit potential based on a careful market research that was conducted. Contrary to common marketing strategic plan where the goal is to be popular, the focus should be more on communicating effectively to the consumers. In these changing times, popularity is not the major standards anymore. In fact, in our modern society today where everyone wants to be different and unique, hype is the new cheap.

To prove that, a very good example is networking. Networking businesses have been very popular but people associated with it have become less and less. In the same way, real estate is something that masses do not consider but its rank as the top investment never changes. Needless to say, popular doesn’t always mean profitable. And marketing strategy should not exert its effort and money to popularity but to communication.

A good businessman knows exactly how to communicate effectively to all kinds of market and consumer’s classes. If you would know how to effectively communicate why your product or service is different from the rest, and somehow input the ‘need’ mindset to your consumers, it’s almost a sure that the business is going to be sustainable and can stand the test of time.
