Choosing the Right People for Your Business

Making sure that your business will prosper can have many factors to think about and one of them is choosing the right people for your business. Some people think that family and relatives are actually the best people to help you building your business and I agree when it comes to support. But for a relative to actually work with you in your business is something I don’t really advise to people.

I’ve proven it a couple of times. It will just never work. Maybe you think it’s just my case well I challenge you to try it yourself. If it works for you, then I won’t argue. To ensure the success of business you have to keep on doing what works and change what doesn’t. However, you cannot deny the fact that there are just too many reasons why working with relatives are simply inconvenient.

First off, they are your family. They know you for the longest time and asking little favors from you is something you can’t avoid. I once had my cousin to work for me and I just can’t complain when she doesn’t show up to work. And because she knew how much money that’s coming to the business daily, it’s hard to refuse requests of cash advance. Moreover, little things at work that supposed to be private became family topic. Lastly, it’s hard to fire a relative.

Well, maybe it’s just really my case. But if you’re looking for the best people to work for you, here are some types of people to watch out for during hiring process.

1. The needy.  Hire someone who believes in your business. Never hire someone who’s simply in need of job. Often than not, once this person saw another opportunity, it might just leave you hanging. You see, a huge amount from the profit goes directly to their salaries so you might as well choose who believes in you and support the vision of the business.

2. The buddy.   As much as possible, hire somebody who is not close to you. Not even a friend. I don’t know but mixing up personal and business will just never really work. One will definitely suffer. So, if you want to keep business and relationships, never mix them up.

3. The opinionated.  I believe that highly opinionated people are the best bearer of negative energy. Do you know why? They feel like they need to have a say on anything just for the heck of it. Regardless whether it’s constructive or destructive opinion, they would say it anyway. They make enemies along the way and anything that’s negative is bad for your business.

4. The Casual.  I know we’re in the modern age and I don’t encourage any power trip. However, I definitely would not hire an employee who thinks I’m just another pal. I tried to be friends with my employees in the past but it got to a point when they actually feel that they were doing me a favor by going to work. Excuse me? Lesson learned. There should be a clear line so they will respect you like a boss.

5. The-Know-it-All. Suggestions are okay but an employee who act like they know it all is really irritating. They play smart and cause division. They are most likely the type of person who can find just any reason to complain. They play hero among peers. Avoid trouble. Avoid these kinds of people. --M.D.

What the Elites Don’t Want You to Know

‘You are the author of your life.’ I’m sure you have heard this a thousand times before as this cliché has been said by a lot of great speakers to motivate their audience. But somehow, you most likely believe that some lives are authored by bloodline especially for people who are born with a silver spoon in the mouth. And you know that the quote ‘ You are the author of your life ’ is only applicable to regular people so that they couldn’t blame anyone for the poverty and scarcity they experience. -The Trap- Now let me tell you some truths that might shock the very core of you. The things that the world and the media has led you to believe are façade and lies to stop you from being free from the trap. And when I say trap, I mean that 9-5 job you’ve signed for. Trap is the routine that you do, an endless cycle of going to work, receiving your paycheck monthly, that’s not even enough to cover all the dues. Trap is also the miserable and dangerous world that you believe you are ...

How to be a Millionaire Salesman

Being a salesperson is something that’s not everyone’s cup of tea. It’s not very easy to be a sales man but if you are going to think about it, each of us is a sales person at some degree. Whenever we deal with other people, talk to people, convince people, win approval, these are all selling in different forms. We sell ourselves the way we present ourselves on a daily basis.  Brian Tracy has once said that if you are in the field of sales, you are already one step closer to the way to wealth. You have the biggest chance to be a millionaire among all the other people who work in different fields once you are a sales person. So, what does it really take to be a millionaire salesman? 1. Prestige. There’s a quote that says that we are not defined by our clothes or physical appearance but we define ourselves. There might be some truths in that but sadly, it is not very applicable when you’re a salesperson. The thing is, it’s hard to project something when the energy th...

The Right Business Goal

When talking about business goal, the first idea that will come to your mind is achieving the maximum sales. Well, there’s really nothing wrong with knowing the business’ full potentials. However, I don’t think that this is the right business goal. Truth is this kind of business goal often lead to poor sales. People nowadays refuse to spend on anything unless it could really give them great value. Sadly, we live in a world today where the only time to catch people’s interest is if it’s something that would benefit them more than it benefits others.  Two years ago, I was giving a motivational talk to people from different walks of life and I opened up about my project of helping one specific community in one village where illiteracy rate was a little bit higher compared to normal places. I told them that whoever wanted to be part of the project could stay in the room after the event. To my surprise, the room was still full of people after the program. I was surprised that every...
